What is a teen film?
A teen film is a genre for teenagers and young adults, it is a based on teenage interests such as;

• rebellion
• violence
• romance
• sports
• family
• aspirations, etc.

Sub Genres

within this genre there are some common sub genres including;

• Romance
• Comedy
• Action, etc.

We found that comedy was one of the most popular sub genres of teen films.

Locations & Characters

There are many different locations throughout teen films, some of which as general locations in which you would expect to find a teenager. This is done with the purpose of creating a connection with the audience and making them feel as though they can relate to the film. 

Such locations include;

• the teens bedroom
• school canteens 
• classrooms
• for those including sports, there is a lot of footage from sports centres, or basketball courts etc.
• there's also the general parks, shopping centres and streets (alleyways etc.)

This locations are not always seen in all teen films, it also depends on the sub genre in which the film is mostly based on. This is the same with the characters found in teen films.

Some common characters may include;

• a nerd or geek of the film
• a mean girl who rules the school
• and the brave one, who claims to be the strongest and the head of everything
